Your Memories of the
Colonial Fox Theatre

What It Meant to Us Then

In the beginning, for a nickel -
It meant serials, a double feature, a cartoon, newsreels ---
It meant secretly smoking, spooning, sneaking in beer  ---
It meant pickle juice, Jujubees, popcorn ---
It meant getting the bad guys with Roy Rogers and Gene Autry ---
     It meant jobs –
It meant falling in love with the stars --
It meant falling in love with your date ---
     It meant free dishes ---
It meant the wonderful world of imagination and dreams ---

                                      and Now

                   “Pressed roses bloom,
The songs resume as once we heard them play,
Ah, Memory, the miracle of yesterday today…”
