The Ralph E. Wallace Award

rackThe Ralph E Wallace Award for Outstanding Individual Contribution, also known as the Ralphie, is an accolade bestowed by the Colonial Fox Theatre Foundation (CFTF) to recognize excellence of volunteers in the service of the Foundation’s mission. The Ralphie was initiated by the Foundation as an award of merit for distinctive achievement in volunteer service.

The Ralphie is named after Ralph E. (Rack) Wallace, whose contribution as volunteer office manager since 2007 is so exceptional and reliable that the only thing to do was to name the Foundation’s highest award of distinction after him.

Rack’s father, also Ralph E Wallace, was responsible for the management of the theatre during the years 1957 through 1976. During many of those years Rack worked in the theatre as a doorman, an usher, and was also in charge of distributing movie promotional posters in designated display cases around town. Rack managed these deliveries on a Cushman Eagle motor scooter.

Winners of the Ralph E. Wallace Award are presented with the Ralphie at the Annual Meeting of the Members of the CFTF.  The award is bestowed upon the volunteer who distinguishes his or her self through their contribution of time, enthusiasm of service and dedication of professionalism.

The first Ralphie was awarded in 2011. It is not necessarily awarded every year.
